At our house we call this “dad’s specialty” because he makes it fast, the kids love it, it’s filling and inexpensive. As always, any talky-talky stuff is after the recipe.
Ingredients
2 boxes of macaroni and cheese
8 cheese slices
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1 pound ground beef
Butter (for the macaroni & cheese)
Milk (for the macaroni and cheese – maybe a little extra, see below)
Directions
Cook the Mac and cheese according to package directions
Add a can of cream of mushroom soup to the mix
Brown the ground beef and drain the fat off
Add the cooked beef to the macaroni mixture and blend well
If the mixture looks too dry, add half a can of milk and stir all the ingredients until well blended.
Transfer to a 9 x 13 casserole dish, top with slices of cheese and bake at 350 until it’s bubbling and the cheese slices are melted.
Let stand for 10 minutes before serving
