Today, Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement to mark Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement:
“Tonight at sundown, Jewish households across Ontario and around the world will begin to observe the holiest day in the Hebrew calendar, Yom Kippur.
After the sweetness of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish Day of Atonement is a time for prayer, fasting, repentance, and reflection. It’s a chance to correct the sins of the past, rest from work, and make peace with those we have hurt or wronged as the New Year begins.
When the fast is broken on Monday evening, I hope you and your loved ones can look to the future with hope and optimism.
I wish everyone observing Yom Kippur an easy fast on this solemn and sacred day. G’mar Chatima Tova.”
