“Youtube filtered my channels to keep them from getting views!” reads the site, which along with complaints about the streaming video service includes videos promoting veganism and photos of a woman in an array of outfits, including long dresses and a camouflage unitard.
“There is no equal growth opportunity on YOUTUBE or any other video sharing site, your channel will grow if they want to!!!!!”
~ Nasim Najafi Aghdam
Her father reportedly said Aghdam told her family a couple of weeks ago, that YouTube stopped compensating her for her videos and she “hated” the company.
With the recent un-monetization of YouTube accounts, we’re surprised this didn’t happen sooner or with more frequency. One of our own accounts has become ineligible for monetization because it fails to meet the annual 4,000 hour viewing threshold. Another one of our accounts can’t have a vanity URL because it doesn’t have enough followers.
Here’s what our email from YouTube said:
“As you probably heard, we recently announced updates to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). We made these changes to address a spike in abuse on YouTube by bad actors like spammers, impersonators, and re-uploaders. Our goal is to ensure a healthy ecosystem where original creators can grow and thrive.
As of today, your channel, ********** will no longer have access to monetization tools associated with YPP because it doesn’t meet the new threshold of 4,000 hours of watch time within the past 12 months and 1,000 subscribers. If you meet the new threshold at some point in the future, you’ll be automatically re-evaluated for YPP. The reviews typically take 1-2 weeks.”
