Diabetes is a disease in which your body either can’t produce insulin or can’t properly use the insulin it produces. No matter which type someone is diagnosed with or where they are in their journey—living with diabetes isn’t easy.
Despite popular belief, diabetes is not caused by eating too much sugar and people don’t “give themselves” diabetes. Popular media often depicts disease and people with diabetes in an inaccurate and harmful light.
Today there are more than 5.7 million Canadians living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. There are also 11.7 million Canadians living with prediabetes—a condition that, if left unmanaged, can develop into type 2 diabetes.
We are inviting everyone to join us for a couple of hours of bowling and to raise funds for Diabetes research.
